Seven campus networks. One monitoring desk.
From December 2021 to February 2025, our founder led MMANTC's IT team through a ₹1.5 crore rebuild of seven sites: new internet lines, three-tier switching, a fiber backbone, 390 IP cameras and cloud monitoring, all run from a single desk.
- network uptime sustained
- 99%
- IP cameras deployed
- 390
- of NVR storage
- 500TB+
- to fix a dead internet line
- 1–2 hrs
The brief
Separate networks, one point of control.
MMANTC's institutions ran on low-cost internet plans that went down often, and staff relied on WhatsApp for everyday work. Each institution wanted a network of its own, fully separate from the others, yet the IT team had to see and fix all of them from one place.
As IT Head, our founder Faisal Mukhtar led a team of more than ten through a ₹1.5 crore rebuild, from the internet lines coming into each building to the cameras on every floor.
What was built
The same blueprint at every site, rolled out across all seven.
Internet that stays up
Low-cost plans were replaced with low-latency business lines, routed with the fewest possible hops and a dedicated line for each connection. A dead line is now fixed within one to two hours.
Failover at every site
A load-balancing router at each institution spreads traffic across several internet lines and keeps it online if one fails.
Three-tier switching
Core, distribution and access switches at every site, joined by fiber, with Cat6 to every desk, lab and camera.
Wi-Fi coverage
Access points placed and tuned for coverage across the campuses, with staff and guest networks kept apart.
Five VLANs, locked down
Staff, Surveillance, Management and Guest networks, plus a private core that only the IT Head and his team can reach, enforced with access control lists.
390 IP cameras
Cameras across the campuses on more than 500TB of NVR storage, sized to keep about 60 days of recording.
Monitoring from one desk
A cloud controller at every institution reports to the IT department, so every router, switch and access point can be watched and managed remotely.
Proper tools for staff and students
A dedicated .edu.in domain, a 10,000-user Google Workspace for Education plan, and Microsoft 365 apps with Teams, which moved day-to-day work off WhatsApp.
The final tally
Seven separate networks, each with the same layered design.
| Load-balancing routers | 7 |
|---|---|
| Core switches | 7 |
| Distribution switches | 7 |
| Access switches | 25+ |
| Wi-Fi access points | 16+ |
| IP cameras | ~390 |
| NVR storage | 500TB+ |
